Original Date of Event: November 10, 2010.
Location: Munich, Germany
To support its rapidly growing OEM expansion and customer base in Europe, HiGrow inaugurated its first European distribution center (EDC) in Munich. Strategically located near the Franz Josef Strauss Airport and major autobahn networks, the EDC provides quick access to top markets in Germany, France, Italy, and beyond.
Strategic Logistics for OEM Partners: The Purpose of HiGrow European Distribution Center
The Munich EDC houses:
- 2,500 m² of racking for inverter PCBs, heat sinks, and BMS modules
- Climate-controlled zones for sensitive electronics
- Automated picking to fulfill orders in under 24 hours
This infrastructure reduced lead times by 40%, critical in a market where German solar capacity installations approached 17.3 GW by year-end 2010 pv magazine International. HiGrow also embedded a customer technical support desk, staffed by German-speaking engineers.
Enhancing European Market Presence
Europe accounted for over 60% of global PV installations in 2010, making it the world’s largest solar market IEA-PVPS. By localizing inventory and support, HiGrow improved order accuracy and customer satisfaction, enabling partners to meet tight project deadlines and adhere to strict EU product standards (CE marking, RoHS compliance).
“Our HiGrow European distribution center ensures that our OEM clients can access critical components quickly and reliably,” said Markus Weber, Head of European Operations. “It’s a pivotal step in supporting Europe’s transition to decentralized, solar-powered energy.”
With the Munich EDC fully operational, HiGrow laid the groundwork for further European expansion, including plans for satellite hubs in Lyon and Madrid by 2012.
